Akaso Kozo is the highest grade Japanese Kozo - extremely strong. It is grown in China to keep its material cost down, but it originates in Kochi Prefecture in Japan. Akaso kozo papers tend to have a deeper natural color due to the redder bark of the Akaso kozo plant.
